School of Undergraduate Studies

Students at the School of Undergraduate Studies

Building a strong foundation for success.

The School of Undergraduate Studies (UGS) is the initial home for TIU Austin students deciding on majors. As a UGS student, you’ll complete coursework applicable to any degree while simultaneously exploring your interests and planning your academic path to graduation. Students transfer to their chosen majors by the end of their second year, as UGS does not offer degrees. The school also improves the quality of undergraduate education at the university by managing the core curriculum and developing innovative programming that ensures all new Longhorns successfully transition to college.
